Content Area Administration

Use the Content Area Administration to access the content area managers or the Navigator from which you can establish attributes, design page styles, determine how to display links and items, and so on for your content area.

  • The Administration icon, adminmainl.gif, is displayed in the navigation bar only when you are logged on with appropriate administrative privileges.

  • Content area administrators can use all of the content area managers. Users who are logged on as authorized users can use only a subset of the managers, depending on their individual privilege level.

Title Banner Icons

Content Area Home

Displays the Content Area home page.

Administration

Displays the current window, Content Area Administration.

Navigator

Displays the Navigator from which you can access content area objects.

Oracle Portal Home

Displays your Oracle Portal home page. If you are logged on, your personalized version of the Oracle Portal home page is displayed.

hlp_helpl.gif Task Help

Displays the task-oriented help system, which provides step-by-step instructions for completing all content area tasks.

hlp_helps.gifField-level Help

Displays field-level help for the page you are currently viewing. The hlp_helps.gif icon is typically displayed on the configuration page's title banner.

Content Area Managers

Navigate Content Areas

Displays the Navigator which lists all content areas and objects for which you have access and in which you can perform various administrative actions such as create, edit properties, and delete.

Note: You can acess only those areas of the product for which you have the appropriate access privileges.

Displays the Content Area Manager from which you establish the features and settings that apply across all content areas such as those relating to items, folders, navigation bar labels, pages, translations, and access lists.

mgrlayout.gif Style

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and "Manage Styles" that control the appearance of your folder's banner, navigation bar, and folder regions.

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and manage navigation bars and their elements. Navigation bars enable users to quickly access key areas of your content area.

Content Managers

mgrcorner.gif Folder

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and manage folders. Folders are containers for your content items. Different folder types are supported including container, URL, PL/SQL, and search.

Folders establish the structure of your Oracle Portal content area.

mgrcat.gif Category

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and manage categories that organize your content items into related content groupings.

mgrpers.gif Perspective

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and manage perspectives that help users identify items of interest.

mgrcusti.gif Custom Item Type

Displays the Navigator from which you can create and manage attributes for custom item types and custom folder types.

Personal Information

Account Information

Displays the Account Manager from which you can edit your Personal Information such as preferences, defaults, contact details, personal information, and default group and home page.
