Creating navigation bars

You create navigation bars to enable users to more easily locate information. Once you have created and edited a navigation bar, you can associate it with folders and pages, which means that users will use your navigation bar whenever they access those folders and pages. Not all of the available properties are set when you create a navigation bar. Typically, you will want to edit your navigation bar after creating it to specify the rest of the available properties.
	You must own at least one folder in the content area to create a navigation bar. Folder owners and page creators can add and remove navigation bars for any folder or page that they own. Navigation bar creators can edit and delete any navigation bar that they create.

To create a navigation bar:

Click to access the Navigator and then click Content Areas to go to the Content Area Navigator. Note: You can also get to the Content Area Navigator from the content area Administration page. Click Contents next to the name of the content area to which you want to add the navigation bar. If the list of content areas is very long, use Find to go directly to the desired content area. Note: If you want to use your navigation bar in multiple content areas, click Contents next to Shared Objects rather than a particular content area. You must be a portal administrator or have Manage privileges to create shared objects. Click Create next to Navigation Bars. Fill in the properties for the navigation bar. Click Create. You can now either click the link at the top of the page to add elements to your navigation bar, create additional navigation bars, or click Close to leave the Navigation Bar Manager and return to the Content Area Navigator. Note: From the editing page of the Navigation Bar Manager you can change the navigation bar's name, title, and style, specify the access options, and add/delete/arrange elements.
