Assigning a folder owner

The folder owner or content area administrator has complete control over the folder including adding, deleting, moving, and approving items as well as assigning the style.

The content area administrator or folder owner can assign one or more folder owner(s) using the Folder Manager. You can have one or more users or a groups assigned as folder owners.

You must be logged on as a content area administrator or folder owner.

To assign a folder owner:

Note: If you are already in the Folder Manager that you want to work with, skip to step 4.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab.

  2. Navigate to Path: Content Areas > Name of Content Area > Folders.

  1. In the Actions column, click Edit next to the folder you want to work with to display the Folder Manager.

Note: If you do not see the folder that you want to work with, this means that you have not been granted the appropriate folder access privileges. See your content area administrator to request folder access.

  1. Click the tabuser.gif Access tab.

  2. In the Grant Access section, enter the name of the user or group to which you want to assign folder level privileges. If you do not know the name of the user or group, click to display a list of existing users or click to display a list of existing groups from which to choose.

A box is displayed that lets you perform a search for the user or group name. You can use the wildcard character, %, to display a list of users or groups with your search criteria.

  1. Click Add To Access List. The user or group is added to the access list displayed below.

  2. In the Change Access section, next to the Grantee name, select the Own Folder box.

  3. You can assign multiple users or groups as folder owners. Repeat steps 9-11 for each user or group you want to make a folder owner.

  4. Click OK.

Note

  • Be sure to click Apply to continue working, otherwise your selections may be lost.

  • If item level security is enabled, an item creator can grant the Own Item privilege to more than one user. However, content area administrators, folder owners, and authorized users with the Manage Items privilege (folder managers) have the highest level privilege on all items in the folder. They cannot have their privilege superseded by an item level privilege.
