Choosing sub-folder links to display

This task is relevant when you have sub-folders (folders contained in a parent folder) and you want to control the order in which the folder links are displayed in the folder area. For more information on how and where sub-folder links are displayed to users in the folder area, see What are folder regions?

To perform this task, you must be either a folder owner or have the appropriate folder access privileges.

To choose sub-folder links to display:

Note: If you are already in the Folder Manager that you want to work with, skip to step 4.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab.

  2. Navigate to Path: Content Areas > Name of Content Area > Folders.

  1. In the Actions column, click Edit next to the folder you want to work with to display the Folder Manager.

Note: If you do not see the folder that you want to work with, this means that you have not been granted the appropriate folder access privileges. See your content area administrator to request folder access.

  1. Click the Optional tab.

  2. Below the Sub-folders And Perspectives section, choose a sub-folder by selecting the sub-folder in the Available Sub-folder list and clicking to move it to the Displayed Sub-folder list. To choose all sub-folders, click .

    • Use to determine the order the sub-folders are displayed in the folder.

    • To remove a sub-folder, select the sub-folder in the Displayed Sub-folder list and click to move it to the Available Sub-folder list. To remove all perspectives from the folder, click .

  3. Click OK.

Notes

  • From the Style Manager > Folder Layout > Edit Region page, you can choose how many sub-folder levels, up to two levels, to display in the sub-folder region.

  • From the Content Area Map, folders are presented in alphabetical order at each level of the hierarchy (root folder, parent folder, sub-folder).

  • If a folder's parent folder is not displayed to public users, the folder is moved all the way up to the top of the tree, even though it was not created at that level. If the Content Area Map seems misleading or confusing, see your content area administrator or the appropriate folder owner for clarification.
