Changing an item's display option

You can control the display option for items of type PL/SQL, text, URL, and Application Component. The display option controls how the item is displayed in the folder area.

For these items and all other item types, you can also change the folder region which determines the overall flow of items and sub-folders in your folder area.

You must be logged on as a folder owner or an authorized user with the appropriate folder or item-level privileges.

To change an item's display option:

Note: If you are already in the folder in which you want to edit an item, skip to step 4.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab to navigate to Path: Content Areas.

  2. In the Name column, click the content area link that contains the item you want to work with.

  3. The content area home page (root folder) is displayed with all the sub-folder links that were chosen.

    • If necessary, click a sub-folder link to view the contents of a given folder.

    • If you do not see the folder that you want to work with, this means that you have not been granted the appropriate folder access privileges. See your content area administrator to gain access.

  4. Click Edit folder located on the main banner to switch to Edit mode.

This displays the item management tools next to all the items in the folder.

  1. In the folder area, locate the item you want to edit.

  2. Click beside the item to display the Item Manager.

  3. Click the Secondary tab.

  4. In the Display Options field, choose how you want the item to display in the folder area:

    • Link That Displays Item In Folder Area: when an end user clicks the item's link, the content is displayed in the folder area (with the navigation bar).

    • Item Displayed Directly In Folder Area: the content is displayed directly in the folder area with other items

    • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window: when an end user clicks the item's link, the content is displayed in the full browser window, replacing the current page.

    • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window: when an end user clicks the item's link, a new browser window is opened to display the content.

  5. Click OK.
