Specifying the number of columns and rows in a folder region

The folder region layout determines the overall flow of items and sub-folders. The more the folder region properties are customized, the more you can extensively customize the appearance of any folder. For example, you can specify the number of columns and rows in a folder region.

You must be logged on as the style administrator or creator of the style to perform this task.

Be careful when changing the style applied to the folder since any changes affect the appearance of all other folders and navigation bars using that style.

To specify the number of columns and rows in a folder region:

Note: If you are already in the folder in which you want to work with, click Folder Style on the folder dashboard and continue from step 4.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab.

  2. Navigate to Path: Content Areas > Name of Content Area > Styles.

  3. In the Actions column, click Edit next to the style you want to work with to display the Style Manager.

  4. Click the Folder Layout tab.

  5. Click beside any region in the region layout diagram to edit its properties, including the default region names (i.e. Quickpicks, News, Regular items, etc.).

The Style Manager (Edit Region): Item or Sub-folder configuration automatically appears.

  1. In the Number of Columns field, enter a number.

Example: A region with three columns would look like:

  • All items and sub-folders in the region are ordered into the number if columns specified in this field. Thus, only those items that can be displayed in the number of rows and columns specified are visible in View mode. For example, if you specify three rows and three columns, only nine items will be visible in View Mode.

  • All items are visible to the authorized user editing the folder.

  • Leaving this field blank displays all items and sub-folders in a single column.

  1. In the Number Of Rows field, enter a number.

Example: A region with three rows would look like:

  • Leaving this field blank would dynamically expand the number of rows in the region to accommodate the items added to it.

  • All items are visible to the authorized user editing the folder.

  • Only those items that can be displayed in the number of rows and columns specified are visible in View mode. For example, if you specify three rows and three columns, only nine items will be visible in View mode.

  1. Click Apply.

The folder region layout is modified with your changes.
