Copying a folder

You must be either a content area administrator or higher, folder owner, or have the appropriate folder privileges on both the folder you are copying from and to.

To copy a folder:

Note: If you are already in the Folder Manager containing the folder you want to copy, switch to Edit mode and click next ot the folder.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab.

  2. Navigate to Path: Content Areas > Name of Content Area > Folders.

  3. In the Actions column, click Copy next to the folder you want to copy.

The Copy Folder Map displays from which you can choose the folder where you want the selected folder to be copied.

Notes:

  1. Next to the destination folder, click the Copy Here link. The Copy Folder Manager appears.

Note: Click tfoldp.gif to open the folder, or click tfoldom.gif to close the folder.

  1. In the Folder Properties section, In the Name field, enter a name to be used internally.

Note: The Name must be unique within the content area, and is limited to 60 characters. The name can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the underscore (_) character. Do not use spaces or other special characters.

  1. In the Display Name field, enter a name for the folder's link text (limited to 256 characters) which appears on the Navigator and throughout the product.

  2. Choose the category to which the folder belongs. A folder must belong to a category, and can belong to only one category.

  3. In the Copy Options section, choose what you want to copy:

Items

Copies all the items contained in the folder. However, it does not copy the sub-folder or its content.

Sub-folders

Copies the folder and sub-folders name, display name, and attributes (if any) but does not copy the contents of these folders.

Items And Sub-folders

Copies both the folder and sub-folder's content items and structure.

Folder Properties

Copies the folder properties (required, optional, style, image, navigation bar)

Folder And Item Access Privileges

Copies the folder and item access privileges that were granted to users and groups.

  1. If you also want to copy the item and folder level access privileges, select Folder and Item Access Privileges.

Note: After copying the folder, you can grant folder and item level privileges on this folder.

  1. Click OK.

The Navigator re-appears with your newly-copied folder reflected below the Name column.

Notes

  • The folder's style properties are automatically copied with the folder when any option is selected.

  • The personal folders cannot be copied.

  • If you are in the content area, click the Folder link from the Content Area Administration page. This displays the Navigator listing all the folders in this content area from where you can copy any folder directly.
