Hiding an item in View mode

In some situations, you may wish to hide an item in View mode. For example, you may want to set up the item attributes and view how items display in the folder region while awaiting the item's final version. But, you don't want the item to be available to public users or authorized users in View mode. However, a hidden item would be displayed to the item creator in Edit mode.

You must be logged on as the item owner or have authorized access to an item.

To hide an item in View mode:

Note: If you are already in the Folder Manager containing the item you want to view, skip to step 4.

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab to navigate to Path: Content Areas.

  2. In the Name column, click the content area link that contains the item you want to work with.

  3. The content area home page (root folder) is displayed with all the sub-folder links that were chosen.

    • If necessary, click a sub-folder link to view the contents of a given folder.

    • If you do not see the folder that you want to work with, this means that you have not been granted the appropriate folder access privileges. See your content area administrator to gain access.

  4. Click Edit folder located on the main banner to switch to Edit mode.

This displays the item management tools next to all the items in the folder.

  1. In the folder area, locate the item you want to edit.

  2. Click beside the item to display the Item Manager.

  3. On the Secondary tab, select Hide Item.

Note: If this box is not selected, the item is displayed in View mode to all authorized users and available to all public users if the folder is enabled to display to public users.

  1. Click Finish.

Notes

  • When editing an item, you can select the Hide Item check box on the Secondary tab.

  • When adding or editing an item, if the Display Name field is left blank, the link text that appears is "View."
