Editing a page style

Editing a page style is different than changing a page style for a page. When you change a page style for a page, you select a different style for that particular page. When you edit a page style, you potentially affect many pages: not only the pages currently adhering to the style, but pages yet to be created that will one day adhere to the style.

Note

You must be the page style creator, the portal administrator, or have the Manage Style global privilege to edit a page style.

To edit a page style:

  1. In the Navigator, click the Pages tab.

  2. Navigate to the following path:

    Path: Pages

  3. Click Page Styles to display all the page styles to which you have access.

  4. In the row that contains the style you want to edit, click Edit.

  5. Change the name of the page style and/or the description, if desired.

  6. Select Make Public to make this style available to other users, or clear it to keep the page style private.

  7. Click the appropriate radio button to change the caching option imposed on the page.

Note: If you select expires based caching and later change to validation based caching, if the page style has already been cached the cached version of the style will still be used until the caching time period has been reached. We recommend that you do not select expires based caching until you have finished developing the page style.

  8. Click Properties.

  9. From the Page Style Element list, choose an aspect of the style to customize. See the following topics for more details:

  10. Use the color palette to select a new color for the page style element, or enter the hexadecimal color code in the Color field.

To change the font, choose the desired font face, font color, and font size. The <Default> font face renders the text in the default font specified by the user's browser.

  11. Click Apply.

A preview of your color and font selections appear to the right.

  12. Customize each of the page style elements as desired, remembering to click Apply after changing the color or font of each element.

  13. Click Close.
