Setting up interMedia Text searching

interMedia Text delivers powerful text management and retrieval capabilities. It indexes any document or textual content to deliver fast, accurate retrieval of information. Several techniques are used to ensure fast and accurate text searching, from traditional full-text search to document theme analysis. For more information, see Oracle8i interMedia Text Reference.

  • If interMedia Text is not installed or enabled, a basic or advanced search tries to find the specified search words in the display name, description, and keywords of items (as well as the display name and description of folders, categories, and perspectives).

  • If interMedia Text is installed and enabled, a basic or advanced search also tries to find the specified search words in the content of uploaded documents and the first pages of URL items.
