Deleting perspectives

You delete a perspective when it is no longer necessary. If a folder or item is still assigned to a perspective when it is deleted, the folder or item is not re-assigned to another perspective. If the folder belongs to more than one perspective, it continues to belong to those perspectives.

You must be a content area or Oracle Portal administrator to delete a perspective.

To delete a perspective:

  1. Click to access the Navigator and then click Content Areas to go to the Content Area Navigator.

Note: You can also get to the Content Area Navigator from the content area Administration page.

  2. Click Contents next to the name of the content area from which you want to delete the perspective. If the list of content areas is very long, use Find to go directly to the desired content area.

Note: If your perspective is shared across multiple content areas, click Contents next to Shared Objects. You must be a portal administrator or have Manage privileges to delete shared objects.

  3. Click Perspectives. If the list of perspectives is very long, use Find to go directly to the desired perspective.

  4. If you are deleting a child perspective, click Sub-Perspectives next to the parent perspective until you see the child perspective that you want to delete.

  5. Next to the perspective that you want to delete, click Delete. A confirmation message appears.

  6. Click Yes.

Notes

  • If you delete a parent perspective, all of it's child perspectives are deleted as well. If a folder or item is still assigned to a perspective when it is deleted, the folder or item is not re-assigned to another perspective.
