Editing categories

You edit an existing category to change its properties. Not all of the available properties are set when you create a category. Typically, you will want to edit your category after creating it to specify the rest of the available properties.

You must be a content area or Oracle Portal administrator to edit a category.

To edit a category:

  1. Click to access the Navigator and then click Content Areas to go to the Content Area Navigator.

    Note: You can also get to the Content Area Navigator from the content area Administration page.

  2. Click Contents next to the name of the content area that contains the category that you want to edit. If the list of content areas is very long, use Find to go directly to the desired content area.

    Note: If your category is shared across multiple content areas, click Contents next to Shared Objects. You must be a portal administrator or have Manage privileges to edit shared objects.

  3. Click Categories. If the list of categories is very long, use Find to go directly to the desired category.

  4. If you are editing a child category, click Sub-Categories next to the parent category until you see the child category that you want to edit.

  5. Click Edit next to the category that you want to edit.

  6. Edit the category as desired and, when you are done, click OK.
