Why can't I open the file I downloaded from the content area?

If you cannot open a file that you downloaded from a content area, check the following:

  • Is the file extension correct for the file you want to open? If it is not, change the file extension to reflect the program's file extension. For example, if the file you downloaded is a Powerpoint Presentation, the file extension should be *.ppt.

Note: Check your browser's Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) settings.

  • Do you have the program that created the document or file? You may have to browse to the location of the program to open your file.
