Configuring the PL/SQL Gateway

Oracle Portal provides Gateway settings that you can configure for each Database Access Descriptor (DAD) at your installation. There is a separate DAD for:

  • Each instance of Oracle Portal. An instance is a single installation of Oracle Portal. Instances are also referred to as nodes.

  • Single Single-On if this has been installed.

  • Each WebDB 2.X site (also know as content areas) you want to access.

You can configure a DAD using the following methods:

To add new PL/SQL Gateway settings or edit exisiting settings

  1. Click to navigate to the Portal Home Page.

  2. Click the Administer tab.

  3. In the Services portlet, click Listener Gateway Settings.

  4. Click Gateway Database Access Descriptor Settings.

  5. Click Add for Portal 3.x configuration to configure a DAD for an instance of Oracle Portal 3.0 or Single Sign On. The DAD will be configured with default values that you can accept or change.

  6. Click Add for WebDB 2.x configuration to configure a DAD for a WebDB 2.x content area. The DAD will be configured with default values that you can accept or change.

  7. Click Add Default(no configuration) to configure a DAD without any default values. You can add new values to any field in the DAD.

  8. Click the small help icon to view information about entry fields on the Create DAD Entry pages.

  9. To edit an existing DAD, scroll to it in the Database Access Descriptor list at the bottom of the page and click .

To access Gateway settings by typing a URL:

  1. Type the following URL into your Web browser’s location or address field:

http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/admin_/gateway.htm

where:

  • hostname is the name of the server on which Oracle Portal is installed.

  • port is the port specified during installation.
