Performing actions on multiple objects

You can perform (bulk) actions on multiple objects in a content area. You can move, copy, and delete, and assign attributes to, multiple objects.

The bulk actions that you can perform on folders and items include:

  • move

  • copy
  • delete
  • assign attributes (categories and perspectives)

The bulk actions that you can perform on categories and perspectives include:

  • delete

     

You must be the content area or portal administrator, or have the appropriate privileges on the objects, to perform actions on multiple objects.

To perform actions on multiple objects:

To perform actions on multiple folders, categories, and perspectives:

  1. In the Navigator, click the Content Areas tab.

  2. Navigate to Path: Content Areas.

  3. In the Actions column, click Contents next to the content area that contains the objects that you want to perform actions on.

  4. In the Actions column, click Bulk Action next to Folders, Categories, or Perspectives.

  5. Select the objects and click a bulk action:

    For folders:

    Select multiple folders and then click Delete, Move To, or Copy To, or click Attributes to assign attributes (categories and perspectives) to the folders.

    For categories:

    Select multiple categories and then click Delete to delete the categories.

    For perspectives:

    Select multiple perspectives and then click Delete to delete the perspectives.

     Note: You can also access folders, categories, and perspectives through performing a search.

To perform actions on multiple items:

  1. Perform a search for the items that you want to perform actions on.

  2. Click Bulk Action.

  3. Select multiple items and then click Delete, Move To, or Copy To, or click Attributes to assign attributes (categories and perspectives) to the items.

Note

  • When you delete a category, all of the items and folders that are assigned to the category are reassigned to the parent category. If there is no parent category the items and folders are reassigned to the General category. If you delete the parent category as well, the items and folders are reassigned to the General category.

  • If an object does not include a check box, you do not have permission to perform an action on the object.
