Refreshing the portlet repository

Your local node is constantly being updated with new portlets, as users publish folders, pages, navigation bars, and so on to the portal. Each time a user displays Add Portlets, the list of locally created portlets expands to reflect the newly added objects.

However, if you have just added or deleted a remote node, you must explicitly refresh the portlet repository to bring it up to date. Actions that are automatically reflected in the repository without an explicit refresh are:

  • Registering a new provider

  • Removing a provider

  • Publishing a portlet

  • Deleting a portlet

  • Changing a portlet's title or description

Note

You must be the portal administrator or the portlet repository's content administrator to refresh the portlet repository.

To refresh the portlet repository for all local and remote nodes:

  1. In the Provider portlet, click Display Portlet Repository.

Note: By default, the Provider portlet is on the Oracle Portal home page's Administer tab.

  2. In the portlet repository, click Refresh in the upper right corner.

The portlet repository is updated to include any newly added providers and their portlets. All recently deleted providers and their portlets are removed.

To refresh the portlet repository for remote nodes only:

  1. In the Provider portlet, click Refresh Remote Provider Information.

Note: By default, the Provider portlet is on the Oracle Portal home page's Administer tab.

  2. Click Start.

The portlet repository is updated to include any newly added remote providers and their portlets. All recently deleted remote providers and their portlets are removed.
