Assigning a portlet publisher

Several Oracle Portal objects, including components, folders, and categories, can be displayed as portlets in a portal. However, if every user was able to make their objects available as portlets, the list of portlets would soon become unmanageable. To this end, you can assign specific users as portlet publishers. Only portlet publishers can make Oracle Portal objects available as portlets.

You must be the portal administrator to assign a portlet publisher.

To assign a portlet publisher:

  1. In the Users portlet, enter the user name of the user who you want to assign as a portlet publisher in the Name field. If you are not sure of the user name, click and select from the list provided.

By default, the Users portlet is located on the Oracle Portal home page's Administer tab.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Select PORTLET_PUBLISHERS if you want this user to be able to make Portal objects available as portlets. Uses who have been assigned as portlet publishers will see the Publish As Portlet check box when they create or edit objects.

  4. Click OK to add the user to the PORTLET_PUBLISHERS group.
