Controlling who can see a portlet

In the portlet repository, you can set portlet security levels to control which users can see each portlet. Portlet security controls who can see the portlet on a page as well as in the portlet repository and Add Portlet page.

Note

You must have Manage privileges on the portlet or have Manage privileges on All Portlets to set portlet security.

To control who can see a portlet:

  1. In the Provider portlet, click Display Portlet Repository.

    Note: By default, the Provider portlet is on the Oracle Portal home page's Administer tab.

  2. Navigate through the portlet repository to the folder that contains the portlet.

  3. Click Edit Folder located on the main banner to switch to Edit mode.

  4. Next to the portlet, click Edit.

  5. Click the Access tab.

  6. Select Define Portlet Access Privileges and click Apply.

  7. In the Grantee field, click Browse Users to select the name of a user who should be able to see this portlet, or Browse Groups to select the name of a group.

  8. Select a privilege level from the list:

Access

Enables users and groups to view this portlet in pages, and add this portlet to pages that they create.

Manage

Enables users and groups to grant privileges on this portlet to other users and groups.

Note: Users and groups with Manage privileges automatically have Access privileges.

  1. Click Add.

  2. Click OK to return to the portlet repository.

Note

  • Use the Privilege list under Change Access to change a user or group's portlet security privileges. Or, click Delete to remove the user or group's privileges entirely.
