What content areas are created by Oracle Portal?

During installation, Oracle Portal creates some content areas it needs to accomplish certain tasks. For example, the portlet repository, which reflects all the portlets from local and remote providers that can be added to pages, is simply a content area.

Here are the other content areas that Oracle Portal creates:

Contains reports you can run to gather information on performance and usage. Also allows you to examine Oracle Portal logs.

Sample Content Area

Sample that you can customize to create your own content area.

myCompany Corporate Content Area

Fully populated content area to show you what an active content area looks like.

Portlet Repository

A single folder listing all the portlet providers and associated portlets on this node. When you add a remote node, those providers and portlets are added to the repository.

Oracle Portal Online Help

Provides access to all Oracle Portal documentation, including task help, the Quick Tour, and online manuals.

Shared Objects/Personal Folders

Contains the objects that are shared across content areas (for example, the General category). The root folder for this content area is the folder from which personal folders are accessed.
